Proposition 34

Proposition 34 eliminates the death penalty making first-degree murder with special circumstances punishable only by life in prison without parole. It also changes the sentence of the 725 offenders who are currently on Death Row to life imprisonment without parole.
The pros of prop 34 are that it will save $100 million annually in trial and appeals litigation and corrections costs as estimated by the LOA, a.k.a. the Legislative Analyst’s Office. The savings would be offset by a special fund created by the passing of prop 34. The fund would set aside $100 million for grants to local law enforcement. It would also eliminate the possibility of executing an innocent person. The only con argued about prop 34 is that it lets the criminal escape justice.
I personally don’t believe in the killing of another human being for any other reason than self defense. I vote yes on prop 34 because I believe it is the most humane thing to do and also sensible. It would save the country hundreds of millions of dollars, that seems like the smartest decision to me.

The Life of a Merchant

Hello my name is Edward Whinston and I live in Oxford and am a lowly middle class merchant. I travel the nation in search of new treasures that I can buy and resell to higher paying customers. I am constantly on the move making it difficult to establish friendships with anyone other then my horse. Sometimes I run into the occasional rip off artist or thief, luckily I was trained in combat by a knight as a young lad because my father would care to his cattle. My family may have been poor in finances but we were rich and fat in love and understanding. However my perspective on this world around me is very cynical. I have seen the greed in men from all over the country and I know how corrupted our society is. I personally don’t value materialistic object but the honor and passion in one’s words. The respect given to one another is essential to sustain order and balance. I unfortunately can’t do much to change this world other than the little bits of philosophy I leave with my customers.
